A new statue of Chief Tabby-To-Kwanah is scheduled to be unveiled on August 29 at the Heber City Cemetery Columbarium, according to a August 12 statement from Heber City.
The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for 10 am and will feature the work of sculptor Jonathan Andrew LaBenne. This project is a collaboration involving the Wasatch Community Foundation, the Heber City TAP Tax, and the Wasatch County TAP Tax to honor the history and legacy of Chief Tabby-To-Kwanah.
Mary Murdock Meyer, Chief Executive of the Timpanogos Nation, is expected to attend the event. A descendant of Chief Tabby is also scheduled to share remarks during the ceremony.
The ceremony invites the community to come together to celebrate an important part of local history. For those unable to attend, the statue will be available for visitation at the Heber City Cemetery.
