The Summit Community Gardens and EATS will host their annual Farm to Fork event on Tuesday, September 1st, at the Terrace at Pendry Park City. This evening event, which features seasonal bites, live music, and a spirited auction, serves as a fundraiser to support garden-based education and community health initiatives throughout Summit County.
The organization aims to raise $50,000 to expand the impact of Summit Community Gardens and EATS. These funds support programs such as Fruit to Schools, youth garden education in summer camps and schools, Food Farmacy, and Eat the Rainbow. The initiative also includes community programs like La Milpa and plot donations to foster a sense of belonging.
This year's event will feature an auction led by Diego Zegarra, a Park City Councilor and Vice President of Inclusion and Impact at the Park City Community Foundation. The fundraiser seeks to support experiential learning opportunities that introduce students to nutritious foods and nutritional literacy.
According to Melissa Tschabrun, a Preschool Director for the Park City School District, programs like SCG-EATS help students break down barriers to trying new fruits and vegetables by allowing them to touch, smell, and prepare food.
The Farm to Fork event typically sells out annually. Registration for the event opens on July 21st. Individual tickets are priced at $185, with 6-ticket bundles available for $1,000 and appreciation tickets for $100. The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.
