On Sunday, September 27, 2026, law enforcement and assisting agencies found skeletal human remains during an organized search in a remote area of Little Mountain, approximately 15 miles northwest of Vernal. Search crews were in the area doing follow up on a missing person case.

DNR Law Enforcement Seeking Tips On Uintah County Poaching Case | Basin Now

Officers with the Utah Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement, in partnership with Ute Tribal Law Enforcement, are seeking information to identify the owner of a truck involved in a poaching incident last month. On September 12th, east of Pleasant Valley in Uintah County on Ute tribal lands, images were taken of a unique truck associated with three men and a dog.

Invasive zebra mussels have made their way to the Utah portion of the Colorado River

Biologists have discovered a live adult zebra mussel below the Westwater Recreation Area in the Utah side of the Colorado River, raising the risk of the invasive species spreading in the state.
