The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square recently participated in a world tour performance held at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel in Atlanta, Georgia. The performance included collaborations with the Morehouse College Glee Club and the Spelman College Glee Club.
The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square consists of 360 vocalists and 70 instrumentalists. According to the choir's website, their music is intended to transcend cultural boundaries to bring joy, peace, healing, and hope to listeners worldwide.
Musical leadership for the performance included Music Director Mack Wilberg and Associate Music Director Ryan Murphy. The program featured various musical selections, including works by Handel, Ginastera, and George David Weiss. The performance also included an organ solo by David Oliver, the college organist at Morehouse College.
Collaborating ensembles included the Morehouse College Glee Club directed by David Morrow and the Spelman College Glee Club directed by Kevin Johnson. The musical program featured a diverse repertoire, including American folk hymns, African American spirituals, and songs from various cultures such as Spain and Indonesia.
