Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has arrived in Ogden through Weber State University’s Family Literacy Program, according to a report published August 26. Initiated by program director Paul Schvaneveldt, the program has been available since July to children in the program and residents within the 84401 ZIP code.
The Imagination Library mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five. While the program has grown to send over 3 million books monthly worldwide, the local WSU initiative is funded entirely by private donors. Support for the program comes from the Glasmann Family Literacy endowment at Weber State University and the OC Tanner Corporation gift to the Tanner Families Alive program.
As of Tuesday, the program had more than 170 children receiving monthly book deliveries. Paul Schvaneveldt stated the program was started to further the mission of the WSU Family Literacy Program and provide community families with resources to read with young children.
The WSU Family Literacy Program serves residents in Weber and Davis counties with children ages 2-6. The program provides parenting support in both English and Spanish, including games, activities, connections to community resources, and school preparation support.

Donations to the local program are accepted at the WSU Family Literacy Program.
