The ProvoREADS program has announced its September theme, Discover Your Reading Path, according to a September 8 report. The initiative encourages students to explore different books, topics, and stories to foster a lasting interest in reading.
The September Family Reading Challenge involves families visiting school or public libraries together. The program suggests that children be given time to browse and choose books that catch their attention, such as exploring new sections, asking librarians for recommendations, trying new genres, or obtaining a library card.
The reading efforts are scheduled to continue into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026. Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox are participating in the event, which includes Provo City School District students and employees participating from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The statewide event aims to bring readers across Utah together for an hour dedicated to literacy. Families and community members are encouraged to contact their schools for specific details regarding participation.
