The ProvoREADS campaign has introduced its September theme, Discover Your Reading Path, to encourage students to explore topics and stories that spark curiosity, according to a September 8 report.
The initiative aims to help children view reading as an enjoyable activity rather than just an assignment by providing opportunities to choose books they enjoy.
As part of the September Family Reading Challenge, families are encouraged to visit school or public libraries together. The challenge suggests that visitors explore new sections, ask librarians for recommendations, try new genres, or obtain library cards.
Families can support this process by visiting the Provo City Library or exploring classroom and school libraries to help children discover their specific reading paths.
The reading activities will continue into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, the event features Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox.
Students and employees within the Provo City School District are set to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., joining readers across the state for one hour dedicated to literacy.
