The ProvoREADS program announced a September theme titled Discover Your Reading Path, aimed at encouraging students to explore topics and stories that spark curiosity, according to a September 8 statement.
The initiative seeks to help students find books they enjoy so that reading becomes an activity they look forward to rather than just an assignment.
The September Family Reading Challenge encourages families to visit a school or public library together. During these visits, families are encouraged to browse new sections, ask librarians for recommendations, try new authors or genres, and obtain library cards.
Provo City Library and local school libraries are highlighted as resources for families to help children discover their unique reading paths.
The reading initiatives will continue into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026. During this event, Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox will join readers across the state.
Students and employees within the Provo City School District are scheduled to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to celebrate literacy.
