Amelia Earhart school officially launched a new Top Gun Aviator theme this week, according to a September 8 statement from Principal Dr. Patricia Blanton.
The theme focuses on students setting goals and demonstrating progress through academics, attendance, and behavior involving respect, integrity, safety, and empathy.
The school's schedule includes several upcoming events and testing periods. Acadience testing is scheduled for Sept. 8–11, and the Boys & Girls Club after-school program begins Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Other scheduled activities include hearing screenings and a PTA meeting on Sept. 14. The Scholastic Book Fair is set for Sept. 14–17, and a play launch is scheduled for Sept. 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the library.
The school also announced the kickoff of PTA Reflections, with entries due Oct. 5. The first 50 students to submit entries online will receive a prize, and students entering three or more categories can earn an additional prize.
Regarding student achievement, the school noted that K–3 students may receive an Individual Reading Plan if reading assessment data shows they are not yet reading at grade level. This data helps identify students who may need additional support.
The school recognized several PBIS book winners: Sophia, Jarom, Emmely, Harper, Hannah, and Paige.
