Utah State University provides a variety of scholarship opportunities designed to help students pay for college. These financial support options are available to students who demonstrate academic excellence, community contributions, alumni connections, or involvement in extracurricular activities.

While many opportunities exist, international students should note they are not eligible for all listed scholarships.
Academic Scholarship Evaluation Methods
For academic scholarships, Utah State University reviews all new first-year students using two different methods to determine eligibility. Students applying with ACT or SAT scores are automatically considered based on a combination of their GPA and test results. Alternatively, the university evaluates students without test scores by looking at the rigor of high school coursework, such as AP, Honors, International Baccalaureate, or Concurrent and Dual Enrollment classes.
Important Application Deadlines
Priority deadlines for Fall 2026 first-year students include December 1, 2025, for Logan and Statewide campuses, and April 1, 2026, for Southeast campuses. For Fall 2026 transfers, the priority deadline is February 1, 2026, for Logan and Statewide, and April 1, 2026, for Southeast campuses.
Resident Scholarship Award Details
Resident scholarship options for first-year students at Logan and Statewide campuses include the Presidential award, which covers 100% of tuition and student fees for four years. Other resident awards include Deans ($7,000 per year), Scholar ($5,000 per year), Merit ($3,500 per year), Land Grant ($2,500 per year), and Trustee ($1,500 per year) scholarships, all lasting for four years.
Transfer Student Resident Awards
Transfer students may also qualify for resident awards such as the Provost scholarship ($5,500 per year for two years), Deans ($5,000 per year for two years), Scholar ($4,000 per year for two years), and Merit ($2,500 per year for two years) based on college GPA.
Nonresident Program Opportunities
Nonresident students have access to several programs, including the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) and WUE+. The WUE program allows students from participating western states to pay 150% of in-state tuition. The WUE+ option for first-year students provides the WUE discount plus an additional $3,500 scholarship each year.
Other nonresident opportunities include the Presidential scholarship, which covers full tuition and student fees for four years provided students establish Utah residency after the first year. Additionally, nonresidents may qualify for Deans, Scholar, or Merit awards based on high school GPA.
To qualify as a resident for tuition purposes, individuals must be U.S. citizens or eligible permanent residents, live in Utah for 12 continuous months without leaving the state for more than 29 days total, and obtain a Utah driver's license, vehicle registration, and voter registration at least three months prior to the application semester.
