Utah State senior guard Mason Falslev has been named to the 2026-27 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Top 20 Preseason Watch List, according to an announcement from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday, October 27. Falslev, a native of Benson, Utah, is the only player selected for the list from outside the Power 4 and Big East conferences.
The annual Jerry West Award is celebrating its 13th year by highlighting the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. The award is named after the late Class of 1980 Hall of Famer and 1959 NCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player.
Falslev enters his senior campaign following a season where he averaged 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. He is the reigning Mountain West Player of the Year and has accumulated 1,469 points, 570 rebounds, 317 assists, and 192 steals across 104 career games.
The selection committee for the award consists of media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
Previous winners of the Jerry West Award include Keaton Wagler of Illinois (2026), Chaz Lanier of Tennessee (2025), RJ Davis of North Carolina (2024), Marcus Sasser of Houston (2023), Johnny Davis of Wisconsin (2022), Chris Duarte of Oregon (2021), Myles Powell of Seton Hall (2020), RJ Barrett of Duke (2019), Carsen Edwards of Purdue (2018), Malik Monk of Kentucky (2017), Buddy Hield of Oklahoma (2016), and D'Angelo Russell of Ohio State (2015).
Fans can participate in three rounds of fan voting starting on Friday, October 30. The 20-player watch list will be narrowed to 10 players in February and five players in March. The five finalists will be presented to the Hall of Fame's selection committees and West's family in late March to determine the winners.
