A 15-year-old girl is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing her mother early Saturday morning in a Kanarraville home, according to a report published August 29 by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to an emergency call at 4:19 a.m. Saturday in the area of 400 S. Main St. after receiving reports that a juvenile female had intentionally shot an adult family member.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Maryellen Billing, who was also known as Maryellen Crase.
Upon arrival, deputies attempted to render aid but discovered the adult female was deceased. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, officials stated.
A .380 handgun suspected to have been used in the incident was recovered by the sheriff's office.
