Utah State volleyball defeated Utah Valley 3-1 on Thursday night at the Wayne Estes Center in Logan, according to a September 17 report. Junior outside hitter Sami Blackett recorded 20 kills against her former team to help the Aggies achieve a season-high hitting percentage during the match.
The Aggies secured the victory with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, and 25-18. While Utah Valley won the opening set, Utah State responded by winning the next three consecutive sets.
Sami Blackett recorded her second double-double of the season, finishing with 20 kills, 12 digs, five blocks, and three assists. Sophomore Addy Cook also contributed significantly, recording a season-high 18 kills on a .277 hitting percentage.
Other notable performances included sophomore Silina Damuni, who recorded 46 assists and a career-high 13 digs, and junior Olivia Ruy, who finished with 13 kills and a season-high four blocks. Graduate student Sophie Scott recorded a team-high seven blocks.
The Aggies' performance included season-high marks for kills (61), hitting percentage (.308), assists (58), digs (74), and team blocks (11).
Utah State is scheduled to play No. 24 BYU in Provo on Saturday, Sept. 19.
