The Skyridge boys volleyball team worked toward goals of improving their skills throughout a rebuilding season this year. The team showed improvement and promise as they aimed for future success.
Skyridge ended the season in fifth place in Region 3 and was ranked as the No. 17 seed in the final 6A RPI rankings.
During April, the Falcons competed in several regional matches. On April 14, Corner Canyon defeated Skyridge 3-0 with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-15. The team also faced Lone Peak on April 16, falling 3-0 with scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-20. On April 21, Lehi won against the Falcons 3-0, recording scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-22.
In a return visit from Corner Canyon on April 27, the Chargers won 3-1. While the Falcons won the third set 26-24, the other sets were 25-14, 25-16, and 25-14 in favor of Corner Canyon. The regular season concluded on April 28 with a loss to American Fork, 3-0, with scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-18.
At the Skyline Tournament, the Falcons experienced different results over two days. On the first day, Skyridge lost three matches in shortened formats against Skyline (25-23, 25-16), Olympus (25-21, 25-11), and Bingham (25-15, 25-20).
On the second day of the tournament, the Falcons went 1-1. They lost a close match to Brighton with scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 26-24. However, they secured a victory against Highland, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17 before Highland took the next two, resulting in a Skyridge win via a 15-7 tiebreaker in the fifth game.
The Falcons played Westlake, the No. 16 seed, on May 2 in the first round of the state tournament and did not advance. The team concluded their season with a record of 1-15.
