Work will affect drivers in Davis, Weber and Salt Lake County
SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 1, 2026) — The Utah Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to plan ahead for lane closures on I-15 and I-84 this weekend, followed by extended ramp closures at two major Salt Lake County interchanges beginning next week.
From Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. to Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8 a.m., northbound I-15 between North Station Lane and Park Lane in Farmington will be reduced to one lane for lane striping.
Then, from Saturday, Oct. 3, at 10 p.m., to Sunday, Oct. 4, at 6 a.m., southbound I-15 between 200 North in Kaysville and Park Lane in Farmington (Exits 328 to 324) will be completely closed for lane striping and overhead sign installation work.
This work is part of the Shepard Lane Improved project, which is building a new interchange at Shepard Lane in Farmington to reduce congestion and enhance safety. The project will also improve pedestrian and bicycle connections along Park Lane, and the ramps associated with I-15, US-89 and Legacy Parkway (State Route 67).
Also beginning Saturday, Oct. 3, at 10 p.m., drivers on eastbound I-84 near the mouth of Weber Canyon should plan for daily lane closures through Saturday, Oct. 17, to prepare for an upcoming traffic shift. The closures are part of a bridge project replacing two I-84 bridges originally constructed in the 1960s. Drivers should expect congestion and watch for slower-moving trucks on the steep grade.
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4 a.m., several ramps will close for bridge work: eastbound I-80 to Redwood Road, northbound I-215 to Redwood Road, westbound SR-201 to northbound I-215 and Redwood Road (near westbound SR-201) to northbound I-215. All closures are expected to last approximately 20 days.
Drivers should also be aware of ongoing ramp closures in this area:
Northbound I-215 to California Avenue: Closed until Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 4 a.m.
California Avenue to northbound I-215: Closed until Friday, Oct. 9, at 4 a.m.
Redwood Road to northbound I-215: Closed through July 2027
These ramp closures are part of the I-215 West Improved project, which is repaving multiple sections of I-215, replacing 18 bridge decks and repairing 12 additional bridges. Work is estimated to wrap up in late summer of 2027.
UDOT reminds drivers that construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest updates, visit the UDOT Traffic website or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android. You can also follow UDOT on X, Facebook and Instagram for real-time updates.
