The cowboy heritage of the Flaming Gorge region remains active through long-standing ranching traditions and upcoming rodeo events. The area features several ranches that have been in operation for over 100 years, including the Clay Cattle company, the Vermillion ranch, and the Broadbent ranch.
Local history includes figures such as Butch Cassidy and rustlers like Queen Ann.
The Flaming Gorge Cow Country Rodeo is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday of the second weekend in July.
