Daggett County remains open for business as recreation on Flaming Gorge continues following recent water releases. The most recent release lowered the lake level by between 5 and 6 feet.
According to Commissioner Lytle, marinas will need to adjust their docks to accommodate the lower water levels. While there is significant work involved in reconfiguring these structures, officials stated that the marinas possess the institutional knowledge required to make the adjustments work.
These emergency releases cause concern for local businesses, similar to the impact seen during releases ordered in 2022. Commissioner Lytle noted that while the concern is warranted, the public should continue to enjoy Flaming Gorge and maintain their summer recreation plans in Daggett County.
Lytle stated that although the lake will look different, it is not becoming like Lake Powell and expressed hope that such an arrangement is never necessary. The Commissioner also remains hopeful that a good winter next year will ensure this is only a small bump rather than a serious dip for the future of Daggett County and the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
