Multiple fatal and critical traffic accidents across Northern and Central Utah have claimed several lives and caused significant roadway disruptions over the past few months, according to recent reports detailing collisions involving motorcycles, semi-trucks, and pedestrians.
Commercial Vehicle Collisions and Spills
In Saratoga Springs, a collision involving a semi-truck and an SUV forced the closure of several lanes near the intersection of Pony Express Parkway and Foothill Boulevard. The crash, which occurred approximately two weeks ago, resulted in diesel fuel spilling across the roadway, according to kmyu.tv.
I-15 Traffic Disruptions
A heavy-duty vehicle accident also caused significant delays on I-15 roughly two months ago when a crash resulted in one vehicle coming to rest on top of another. The Utah Department of Transportation reported that three northbound lanes were closed following the incident.
Multi-Vehicle Pileup in Orem

Another fatal incident occurred on US-6 in Utah County roughly two months ago, where a motorcyclist was struck and killed by a car while stopped on the side of the highway.
West Valley and Salt Lake Crashes
The Utah Highway Patrol also reported a fatal motorcycle crash on eastbound state Route 201 in West Valley City approximately one month ago. Additionally, a motorcyclist was critically injured in Salt Lake City approximately ten months ago after losing control and crashing on I-15, with reports indicating the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Fatal Crash in Fruit Heights
In Fruit Heights, a person died following a crash into a retaining wall at approximately 1:44 a.m. roughly four months ago. The Kaysville Fire Department reported that the individual's vehicle caught fire as a result of the collision.
Bicyclist and E-Scooter Injuries
Several accidents involving smaller vehicles and pedestrians have also resulted in serious injuries or deaths. In Sandy, a 60-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing a street on a Wednesday evening approximately one week ago, according to Sergeant Michael Olsen. In Kearns, a 52-year-old man died following an e-scooter crash near 4082 West 5415 South just after 12:15 a.m. approximately two months ago.
