Alta View Hospital has announced the upcoming opening of a Maternal Mental Health Unit in June 2026. Located in Sandy, this specialized inpatient behavioral health program is designed for individuals who are pregnant or within one year postpartum.
Unit services and care focus
The unit will provide psychiatric stabilization, therapeutic support, and coordinated care in a setting intentionally separate from general behavioral health units.
The program focuses on the emotional, psychological, and physical needs of the perinatal period. Services offered include 24/7 inpatient behavioral health care, psychiatric stabilization during pregnancy, and postpartum treatment for conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma-related conditions, mood disorders, and postpartum psychosis.

Clinicians at the unit specialize in perinatal psychiatry, trauma-informed care, and maternal-infant bonding. The facility also provides safety planning and discharge coordination to ensure continuity of care after hospitalization.

How to access emergency support
For those experiencing mental health symptoms during pregnancy or after childbirth, specialized support will be available through this unit. After hours, patients may enter through the Emergency Department for evaluation and support.
