Amelia Earhart Elementary School announced several upcoming events and policy updates in a message from Principal Patricia Blanton. The school is preparing for a variety of activities including a Scholastic Book Fair and upcoming hearing screenings.
Students recently participated in a Safe Routes to School Assembly to review safety methods for walking, biking, and traveling to school. The school noted that the Scholastic Book Fair was scheduled to run from September 14 through September 17.
According to the school, K–3 students may receive an Individual Reading Plan (IRP) if reading assessment data indicates a need for additional support. This process is part of new state reading requirements, and families may receive communication from the Provo City School District, Amelia Earhart Elementary, and individual teachers regarding student progress.
In a change to student recognition procedures, the school will no longer include student names in weekly newsletter recognitions to ensure family privacy preferences regarding names, photos, and videos are honored. However, students will continue to be recognized and celebrated within the school building.
Other scheduled activities include a PTA meeting, a School Community Council meeting, a School Pantry, and a play launch for grades 4 through 6. The school also noted that being five minutes late daily can result in approximately three full days of lost learning over a school year.
