Kane County is launching the Kane County Downtown Façade, Tenant Improvement, Sign, and Beautification Grant Program to encourage private investment in commercial properties. The initiative is intended to enhance the visual appeal of downtown districts and support the success of small businesses throughout the county.
The program targets downtown areas in Kanab, Orderville, Glendale, Big Water, and Duck Creek Village, which serve as important community and economic hubs. As tourism increases in Southern Utah, officials noted that vibrant business districts are necessary to strengthen local businesses and provide memorable experiences for visitors.
Utilizing funds from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the program provides matching funds to business tenants and property owners for eligible improvements. Funding is awarded on a 1:1 matching basis with specific maximum amounts available for different project types.
Façade and Tenant Improvement Grants offer up to $7,500 per project for storefront enhancements, exterior façade upgrades, and interior tenant space improvements. Sign Grants provide up to $2,500 per project for new or upgraded business signage designed to improve design quality and visibility.
Additionally, Beautification Grants are available for up to $1,000 per project. These funds can be used for landscaping, lighting, benches, planters, and other aesthetic enhancements that contribute to an inviting downtown environment.
Kelly Stowell, Chair of the Kane County Economic Opportunity Board, stated that the program is a meaningful step toward supporting local businesses and enhancing downtown character. Stowell noted that partnering with tenants and property owners through these grants can create more welcoming districts for both residents and the thousands of annual visitors to Kane County.
