A Utah judge is ordering Tyler Robinson to stand trial for capital murder, according to a September 2 report. The ruling comes after prosecutors presented what they described as overwhelming evidence against Robinson during a preliminary hearing.
The judge ruled there was sufficient probable cause to proceed with the case. The capital murder charge allows prosecutors to pursue the death penalty. Robinson is accused of shooting and killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk last September during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Provo.
Kirk's widow, Erika, and his mother, Kathryn, were present in court for the ruling.
