Bountiful Elementary students are preparing for end-of-year RISE and Acadience testing as the school year enters its final stretch. These assessments serve to measure student progress in key academic areas and provide information regarding student learning and instruction for schools and families.
Purpose of end-of-year assessments
According to the school, these tests allow students to demonstrate their academic growth throughout the year.
Acadience Reading and Math schedule
The Acadience Reading testing is scheduled to take place between May 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th, and 12th, with specific times varying by grade level and teacher. For Acadience Math, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students will test on May 4th, 5th, and 6th, while 2nd and 3rd Grades will be tested between April 21st and May 8th.
RISE testing dates by grade
RISE testing for older students follows a specific schedule:
3rd Grade: ELA testing occurs April 20th through April 23rd, and Math testing takes place April 27th through April 30th. Both sessions are scheduled from 12:45pm to 1:45pm.
4th Grade: ELA testing is April 15th and 16th, Math is April 20th and 21st, and Science is April 22nd and 23rd. All sessions run from 9:15am to 10:15am.
5th Grade: ELA testing occurs April 14th through April 16th, while Math and Science testing spans April 21st through April 30th. Testing times are between 9:00am and 10:15am.
6th Grade: ELA testing is scheduled for April 21st through April 23rd, Science for April 27th through April 29th, and Math for May 4th through May 6th. All sessions are held from 10:00am to 11:25am.
Overview of assessment types
The RISE assessment is a state-mandated standardized test for grades 3-8 covering English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. Acadience Math assesses early numeracy, computation, and problem-solving for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade. Acadience Reading, administered for grades K-6, measures phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, phonics, fluency, and reading comprehension.
Instructions for families and students
Bountiful Elementary officials noted that teachers will communicate exact testing dates and times for individual students. The school also requested that families help students arrive on time, well rested, and with a positive mindset, suggesting that appointments be avoided during testing blocks to prevent the need for make-up sessions.
