Firefighters responded to a house fire in Riverton on July 3 after residents called 911 to report that their garage was full of flames.
Unified Fire Authority officials stated that crews were called to the scene near 12400 S 2700 W late Saturday night.
According to officials, the residents reported hearing popping noises and sounds resembling an explosion before discovering the garage was engulfed in flames. The residents evacuated the home immediately with their dog.
Firefighters from several agencies responded to the scene and found that the fire had spread into the rest of the house. Crews managed to get the fire under control by 11:20 p.m. and extinguished it shortly after.
Officials said the fire caused extensive damage to the residence, resulting in the displacement of the two residents and their dog.
No injuries were reported from the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
