The penultimate week of Region 9 football featured a physical, low-scoring rivalry match and two significant blowouts. Snow Canyon earned a 14-10 win against Dixie, while Crimson Cliffs and Desert Hills both recorded dominant victories.
In the matchup between Snow Canyon and Dixie, both teams struggled with offenses due to physical defenses and frequent penalties. Snow Canyon senior quarterback Tank Kelly connected with JT Westbrook for a touchdown in the second quarter to give the Warriors a 7-3 lead. Dixie responded with a touchdown from Wyatt Truman to Jaxon Barben, taking a 10-7 lead before halftime. A late second-quarter penalty resulted in the ejection of Dixie's Ran Sawyer. Snow Canyon secured the win in the third quarter after a scoring drive and defensive stops, improving to a 6-3 overall record.
Crimson Cliffs defeated Pine View 63-9. The Mustangs established a 49-3 lead by halftime, driven by five touchdown passes from quarterback Steele Barben, three of which were 50 yards or more. Tyler West and Boston Adamson both caught touchdown passes from Barben. Pine View's only score came from a 42-yard field goal by Kimball Swift in the first half.
Desert Hills defeated Hurricane 56-18. The Thunder established a 35-0 lead in the first quarter, fueled by rushing touchdowns from Gerritt Grondel and Tytan Mason. Grondel also threw a touchdown pass to Mason and added a 20-yard rushing score in the second quarter. Hurricane's scoring included a touchdown pass from Dylyn Gabriel to Gage Huntsman and a pass from Lincoln Langston to a teammate in the final minute.
With one week remaining in the regular season, Region 9 teams continue to compete for improved RPI rankings and playoff seeding in the 4A state bracket.
