The Cottonwood Fire prompted several closure orders and evacuations aimed at protecting public health and safety. According to officials, the fire on Beaver Mountain started near Mile Marker 5 on SR-153.
The Beaver County Sheriff's Office reported that residents and visitors from Hi-Lo Cabins up to Kent Lake were evacuated.
In response to the fire, the U.S. Forest Service issued several orders for the Fishlake National Forest. One order stated that restrictions would remain in effect from June 27, 2026, until December 31, 2026, unless rescinded.
Additional restrictions included Stage 2 Fire Restrictions for the Fishlake National Forest, which began on Friday, June 26, 2026. The Bureau of Land Management also issued a fire prevention order related to the incident.
The U.S. Forest Service Fishlake National Forest, located at 115 East 900 North in Richfield, Utah, managed the incident response. The agency provided public information via a dedicated email and phone line.
