The Provo City Library has announced its September ProvoREADS theme, titled Discover Your Reading Path, according to a September 11 statement. The initiative encourages students to explore various books, topics, and stories to foster a genuine interest in reading.
As part of the September Family Reading Challenge, families are encouraged to visit school or public libraries together. The program suggests that children browse for books that catch their attention, explore new sections, ask librarians for recommendations, try new genres, or obtain library cards.
The goal of the initiative is to help children view reading as an enjoyable activity rather than just an assignment by allowing them the freedom to choose topics that interest them.
The reading initiatives will continue into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026. Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox will participate in the event, and Provo City School District students and employees are scheduled to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
