New teachers/Update on new classes

61 Kindergarteners

Great Turn out for the Kinder Round Up

We had to wait until all the kids showed up.

The day before Kinder started, we got the green light, set up the classroom and started the next day.

We hired a teacher, Avery Powell.

Can we find out how many kindergarteners are within our school boundaries? (Mark to run a report)

We got a bunch of new 5th graders

Overall we are up at least 10 kids since last year.

1st Grade DLI- We hired a teacher in May.  Offered a job at her kids school and left the week before school started.  We have hired a new teacher who is now in place, Ana Karen Bauer.

We had a great support network of people willing to help.  DLI teachers helped make the lesson plans, and helped Kinder to make plans.

End of year data- Current goals

IRP- Senate Bill 241 (Individual Reading Plan)

Students who don’t meet required benchmarks may be retained beginning in 2030.

Any students who don’t meet the required benchmarks will be put on an IRP.

Most of what is included on this bill our district is already doing.

There is an added element with some parent responsibilities.

All staff will be trained in the Science of Reading.

State goal is to intervene early.

Utah State goal is 80% of students on benchmark by the end of 3rd grade.

How do we support families that may have parents that aren’t able to provide support at home?
