The panel's analysis suggests that the market may be overvaluing Texas Tech, which the AI models blended at 17.2 percent. This represents the widest gap between the market and the models on the entire board.
Several factors contribute to the panel's skepticism regarding Texas Tech's high market price. The models cited the 16-team format, which requires a team to finish in the top two of the conference to reach the title game, and an unsettled quarterback situation following the departure of expected starter Brendan Sorsby. In contrast, the market may be accounting for Texas Tech's deep returning roster and a reportedly favorable conference schedule that avoids BYU, Utah, and Kansas State.
The panel also identified several teams as having significant value due to being underpriced by the market. These include Arizona State at 8.5 percent compared to a 3-cent market price, Iowa State at 6.0 percent against a 1-cent price, and Houston at 8.7 percent against a 5-cent price. The panel noted that Utah is priced at 11 cents, while its model value sits at 10.4 percent.
The 2026 Big 12 Championship is scheduled to be played on or about December 5-6, 2026, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Because the conference has no divisions, the two teams with the best conference records will meet in the title game.
