The match remained scoreless through the first half despite a 22nd-minute chance from Leo Messi that forced a save from the RSL goalkeeper. In the second half, Inter Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair made a key intervention in the 59th minute to deny Alexandros Katranis.
Rodrigo De Paul broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute, curling a long-range shot into the top-right corner following a pass from Telasco Segovia. Luis Suárez added a second goal in the 83rd minute with a left-footed half volley into the top-right corner. This marked Suárez's second goal of the regular season.
During the match, Academy product Noah Allen reached 119 appearances across all competitions, surpassing Drake Callender for the most appearances in Inter Miami history.
Head coach Guillermo Hoyos stated the match was great and emotional against a strong team that plays good football. He noted that the players expressed themselves well and performed at a high level.
With the win, Inter Miami improved its road record to five wins, one draw, and one loss for a total of 16 points, which is the best road record in the MLS this season. The team was scheduled to host the New England Revolution at Nu Stadium on Saturday, April 25.
