The Duchesne County Commission held a combined working and regular session on August 3, 2026, to address several administrative and community matters, according to a report published August 7.
During the meeting, the commission reviewed a bid from Staker & Parson dba Burdick Materials for the 2000 West Overlay Project. The base bid was $1,568,506.00, with an additive alternate price of $2,092,925.00. Brock Harrison of Jones & DeMille Engineering recommended tabling the award for one week to discuss the bid with a partner entity.
Public Works Director Mike Casper reported that roadwork in Red Creek is advancing smoothly and that the crusher move to Arcadia is nearly complete. Additionally, the commission approved two commercial approach permits, A26-058 and A26-059.
Emergency Management Director Josh Phillips provided a weather update noting a Red Flag weather advisory and that Stage II Fire Restrictions remain in place. He also discussed the human-caused Grass Hollow fire in Fruitland, which damaged two power poles.
The commission approved several items, including a support letter for the Self-Help and Acquisition Rehabilitation Programs and a new business license for Rockin’ C Waterproofing, LLC, owned by Trevin D. Coil. The commission also approved ten volunteers and vouchers totaling $1,209,368.97.
Duchesne County Fair officials described upcoming activities including livestock shows, concerts, and a rodeo. The meeting adjourned at 2:04 p.m.
