The Provo Library announced several upcoming community programs for children and teens, including a STEAM-focused learning session and a specialized book club. Registration for upcoming September sessions is scheduled to open on September 1, 2026, according to library announcements.
Upcoming STEAM Learning for Children
The Provo Library will host a Homeschool STEAM Time program on Tuesday, September 22, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. This session will focus on the topic of states of matter and will take place in the Story Room and on the North Patio.
Designed for children ages 5-12, the program involves learning about a new subject each month followed by a STEAM challenge. The library noted that participants will engage in hands-on exploration and experimentation outside, and attendees can expect a frozen treat during the event.
This is a drop-off program, though the library requires registration for every child participating. Younger siblings and caregivers are welcome to utilize the toys available in the Story Circle during the scheduled program time.
September Girls Book Club Details
A separate programming option for younger readers is the Girls Read Book Club, which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the library's Story Room. This session is specifically for girls ages 9-12 and requires the presence of a parent or caregiver.
The September meeting will feature a discussion of "Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel" by Natalie Babbitt and K. Woodman-Maynard. The event will include book talks, crafts, and light refreshments.
To participate, families must possess a current Provo City Library card or a registered Orem Library card. Registration is required for both the caregiver and the children attending. Once registration is complete, participants may pick up a reserved copy of the book at the library's Children's Desk.
Recent Teen Gaming Events
The library also recently concluded a gaming event for teenagers. A Minecraft Club session was held on Friday, August 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Shaw Programming Room #260.
This event, which was open to teen players of all skill levels, allowed participants to explore the Minecraft World. The club is categorized as an afterschool activity for teens aged 12-18.
