Staff at Hoover’s River Resort in Piute County are seeking community support through a fundraiser titled Cottonwood Fire: Support Hoovers and Local Recovery. Organized by Ahtianna DeJesus, the campaign aims to help the historic family business manage the impact of recent wildfires on local tourism and operations.
The resort staff stated that Piute County has faced a series of devastating wildfires over the last three years, including the Silver King Fire in 2024, the Monroe Mountain Fire in 2025, and most recently, the Cottonwood Fire in 2026. Established in 1936 near Marysvale, Hoover’s River Resort has served as a stop for travelers on Highway 89 for nearly 90 years.
According to the organizers, repeated wildfire seasons and widespread misinformation regarding local conditions have discouraged visitors from traveling to the area. While the business has remained open and accessible, the loss of two consecutive seasons has placed many small businesses in the county at risk.
Funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign are intended to offset revenue losses from canceled vacations and fewer visitors. These funds will be used to pay employees, cover essential operating expenses, and support marketing efforts designed to bring travelers back to Hoover’s and the broader Marysvale and Piute County area.
As of the report, the fundraiser has raised $2,710 toward a goal of $35,000.
