The second annual Dogden festival is scheduled for Sept. 12 along Historic 25th Street, according to a September 7 report by The Ogdenite.
Organized by the Ogden Downtown Alliance with title sponsor Alphia, the event is expected to host over 450 dogs and their owners. The celebration will feature a parade at 9 a.m. followed by various competitions and games.
The festival will include competitions for categories such as Most Talented, Best Dressed, Most Adorable, and Top Dog starting at 10 a.m. Additionally, there will be an open course for dogs to participate in.
Local adoption partners, including Herding Haven, Friends of Utah Paws and Tails, South Ogden City Animal Services, and Weber County Animal Services, will be present to help pets find homes. Last year, four dogs were adopted on-site during the event.
While the Farmers Market Ogden will operate as usual, specific booths for Dogden will be located in the Municipal Garden to provide a shaded area for dogs. Daily Rise will offer pup cups, and the first 200 owners who register their dogs will receive a free bandana.
Participants are required to keep dogs on a leash, and owners are encouraged to bring water and paw protection to manage asphalt heat. Registration for the event can be completed on the Ogden Downtown Alliance website.
