Fireworks will be permitted anywhere within city limits from July 22 through July 25. According to city news, discharge hours are set from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with hours extended until midnight on July 24.
As residents celebrate with family and friends, officials noted that Utah is experiencing extremely dry conditions, and warned that one spark can start a devastating wildfire.
To prevent wildfires, those planning to use fireworks are advised to light them only during legal discharge dates and times. It is recommended to keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby and to avoid lighting fireworks in or around vegetation or weeds. Additionally, fireworks should never be used on state parks, federal lands, or in areas where they are prohibited.
Safety guidelines also include never allowing young children to light fireworks and ensuring used fireworks are fully soaked before being thrown away.
The city encourages residents to have fun while remaining responsible to prevent wildfires.
