Vernal Middle School has introduced changes to the 6th grade schedule intended to help students transition smoothly from elementary to middle school. Beginning this school year, 6th graders at both schools will benefit from enhanced instructional time in core academic subjects.
Students will receive increased time in Math, Science, and English Language Arts to build a strong foundation in these essential subjects.
Elective classes will be offered during the first and last periods of the day and will rotate every six weeks for most courses. Social Studies, Physical Education, and Health will be taught as trimester-long courses to provide a consistent daily routine while allowing students to explore various electives and adjust to the middle school environment.
Vernal Middle School has scheduled several upcoming events for students and families.
Chromebook handouts for 6th graders, as well as new 7th and 8th graders, will take place on August 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on August 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Families should pick up these devices at the school.
Back-to-School Night is scheduled for August 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This open house for all Vernal Middle School students allows families to tour the school, meet teachers, and locate classrooms.
