A Bluffdale man faces an aggravated murder charge following a stabbing in Springville that left a 28-year-old man dead. Jaxson Clift, 23, was arrested after the incident occurred early Saturday morning.
According to the Springville Police Department, first responders were sent to a residence at approximately 3:15 a.m. Saturday following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, responders found a 28-year-old man with a stab wound in critical condition. He was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to a press release from the Springville Police Department.
Police stated that officers and detectives investigated the case, which led to the identification and arrest of a suspect without incident. The arrest was conducted with assistance from the Metro SWAT Team and the Utah County Major Crimes Unit.
Clift has been booked into jail on charges including aggravated murder, criminal mischief, obstruction of justice, and aggravated assault. Investigators noted that Clift and the victim were recent acquaintances, though the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are still under investigation. The identity of the victim has not been released.
