The Syracuse City Council is scheduled to meet on August 18, 2026, to discuss the potential sale and a short-term lease for a city-owned property located at 546 W. 2525 S., according to a report published August 17.
The council will hold a public hearing to consider authorizing the administration to execute a Real Estate Purchase Contract (REPC) for the property. The city previously purchased the home in 2024 for $677,843 to facilitate the widening of 500 West. An appraisal conducted on April 15, 2026, valued the property at $603,000.
Following a 30-day market listing that began on July 9, 2026, the city received four offers. The highest offer was submitted by Jordan and Stephanie Abrams for a purchase price of $630,000. After accounting for commissions and closing fees, the net proceeds to the city from this offer would be $597,795.
In addition to the sale, the council will discuss authorizing Mayor Maughan to execute a short-term lease agreement for the same property with Jordan and Stephanie Abrams. The requested lease would run from August 19 to September 4, 2026, with a possible extension to September 18, 2026.
According to the agenda, the lease would allow the Abrams family to move into the home ahead of the closing to enroll their children in school. The initial lease term requires an advance payment of $1,462.
The meeting is scheduled to be held electronically via Zoom on August 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The proceedings will also be streamed on the Syracuse City YouTube Channel.
