Summit County, Utah, has been recognized as one of the nation's Top 15 Rural Communities for 2026 by Expansion Solutions Magazine, according to a statement released August 26. The honor is part of the Expansion Solutions 2026 Awards of Excellence, which celebrates national leadership in business growth and economic development.
Jeff Jones, the Economic Development and Housing Director, stated that the award reflects the quality of the business community, citizens, and visitors. He added that the county is grateful for the partnership of the state and other counties and expressed excitement regarding the continued growth of Wasatch Back communities.
Communities were evaluated based on an extensive analysis of several factors, including workforce strength, infrastructure readiness, corporate investment activity, economic performance, and long-term competitiveness. The ranking identifies communities that demonstrate the strategic planning and collaboration necessary to compete for business investment.
Nicole Shakir, the publisher of Expansion Solutions Magazine, said that Summit County has demonstrated the visionary leadership and long-term commitment required to create a competitive environment for business investment. The recognition highlights the work of Summit County Economic Development & Housing and its partners to strengthen the local economy and position the community for sustainable growth.
