Just after 12:00 p.m. on May 10, an aircraft crash occurred on Monroe Mountain near Marysvale. Two individuals were injured, with an 88-year-old male airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital and a 59-year-old male transported privately.
Personnel from the Piute County Sheriff's Office, Piute EMS, and Classic Air Medical responded to the crash. The 1968 Cessna 172 went down east of Marysvale near Anderson Canyon. According to a press release from the Piute County Sheriff's Office, 'as a result of the crash, the aircraft ignited a small wildfire. Responding crews from Marysvale Fire, Monroe Fire, DNR Fire, and the U.S. Forest Service were able to quickly contain the fire to approximately one acre.' The crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
