Franklin Elementary School has announced March Mathness, an upcoming event scheduled for April 1 from 8:45 to 9:45. The program aims to highlight the importance of math fact fluency across grades K-6.
The event will include learning games and practice strategies, which will culminate in a student competition.
The school noted that strong fact fluency serves as a foundation for mathematical development. Key milestones include number identification in kindergarten, addition fact mastery in grades 1-2, and multiplication fluency in grades 3-6.
According to the school, mastering these foundational skills helps reduce cognitive load and allows students to engage in higher-order problem solving.
