The Salt Lake County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is scheduled to meet on Sept. 9, 2026, according to a notice published Sept. 8. The meeting is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m.
The agenda for the upcoming meeting includes a regional hazmat proposal by Bucky Whitehouse of TCEM and a presentation from Austin Maddox, a liaison officer for the Utah National Guard Homeland Response Force (HRF). Additionally, the committee will discuss an overview of a visit to an EPA Brownfield cleanup site.
Action items for the meeting include the approval of meeting minutes from May, June, and July, as well as appointments to the Tier II subcommittee involving Savannah Mailloux. Round table reports are also scheduled from several entities, including the Community Engagement Working Group, the Planning, Training, and Exercise Working Group, the State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
The next LEPC meeting is scheduled for Oct. 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A tabletop exercise previously planned for October has been canceled and will be included with the conference in 2027.
