Utah Fire Info issued an update on August 25 regarding three fires located in Tooele and Utah counties. The report provided information on the current acreage and containment status for the Slater, Tom Creek, and Big Mountain fires.
The Slater Fire, located just west of the Onaqui Mountains, has burned 73 acres. According to the update, moderating conditions allowed the evacuation status for Terra to be lowered from SET to READY. A hand crew and dozer were working on the scene to secure the fireline.
The Tom Creek Fire has grown significantly, reaching 3,860 acres burned in the Simpson Mountains west of Erickson Pass Road. Crews have been working to establish an anchor point, focusing on the south and west flanks to protect values at risk.
The Big Mountain Fire has remained stable with no growth over several days. It is holding steady at 166 acres in the East Tintic Mountains southwest of Utah Lake, where crews remain on site to secure and mop up the fireline.
