Rangers in Grand Canyon National Park responded to a report of human remains in the Crystal Rapids area of the Colorado River. The National Park Service stated that personnel recovered the remains and transferred them to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed. The National Park Service stated that no additional information is available at this time.
This discovery follows a deadly flash flood on Aug. 29 in the Grand Canyon. Following that event, the bodies of Texas residents John Giusti, 46, and Brent Rosenkranz, 42, were recovered. Timothy Allen Smith, 53, a resident of Wyoming, remained missing after that flood.
