The Rocky Ridge City Council met on August 18, 2026, to address several municipal matters, including the opening of bids for attorney services and a proposal regarding grant services with the Water Board. Mayor Nile Mathisen opened two sealed responses for attorney services from Eric Yollick and Clay Crozier. To evaluate the applications, the Mayor appointed Nate Zilles of UBAOG, Shaun Murray, and Al Kettle to an evaluation committee. Secretary Tasha Crum will coordinate the scoring process, with a recommendation for the contract award expected at the September 1, 2026, meeting.
The council voted to approve sharing the $75,000 annual fee for The Ferguson Group grant services with the Water Board. Under the approved plan, the City Council and Water Board will each pay $37,500, though each entity remains responsible for its own grant-writing costs once an application stage is reached. Despite the vote, an objection to the contingency was received after the meeting, and the matter is scheduled to be revisited on September 1, 2026.
Jeff Baker of Jones & DeMille reported that Perco Rock has started work on the 1000 South project, involving vegetation clearing and foundation construction. Council Member Al Kettle is coordinating with the Highway Patrol to obtain 10 years of data regarding potential highway traffic signal improvements.
In other reports, Deputy Pratt from the Uintah County Sheriff's Department discussed recent department activity and the potential placement of a radar speed-feedback sign on 1000 North. Additionally, Commissioner Willis Lefevre reported on a two-year plan developed at the Colorado River Board meeting at Flaming Gorge.
The council also addressed ongoing phishing and spam email threats and discussed scholarship opportunities through the Utah League of Cities and Towns. The meeting concluded at 7:47 p.m.
