An Iron County man has been sentenced following convictions for attempted murder, a weapons offense, and possession of methamphetamine, according to the Iron County Attorney's Office.
Fifth District Court Judge Meb Anderson handed down the sentence for 20-year-old Juan David Ramirez.
The sentencing follows a conviction for an incident in which Ramirez attempted to stab a co-worker multiple times in November of 2025.
County Today Matthew Sorber-Petrie was not in the truck when 12 shots were fired at 17-year-old KayLee Dutton. Still, an Iron County jury decided he was responsible for her murder. Following a four-day trial, jurors convicted Sorber-Petrie, 24, of murder, five counts of felony discharge of a firearm causing serious injury and obstruction of justice.
According to an August 12 statement, Southern Utah University football players and coaches participated in a community service project in Cedar City. The team worked alongside local organizations to clean up various areas throughout the community during fall camp.

The Bureau of Land Management held a geothermal lease auction on federal land in Utah on August 18, 2026. While trade press reports suggest the auction set new records, official figures and the names of winning bidders have not yet been confirmed by the agency.
