The Carbon County Board of Commissioners met on July 15, 2026, to discuss various community developments, including hospital expansions and upcoming local events, according to meeting minutes published August 20.
During the meeting, Castleview Hospital CEO Mark Holyoak provided an update on the hospital's community impact and new services. The hospital reported donating $11.3 million in community benefits in 2025 and supporting 423 employees with a $31.5 million payroll. New initiatives include a recently installed MRI machine and the scheduled start of full-time urology services and robotic-assisted surgeries in September. Additionally, construction for a new inpatient psychiatric unit, described as the first of its kind in rural Utah, was on schedule for completion by the end of August, with a planned ribbon-cutting in the first week of September.
The commission also reviewed a proposal for the 1st Annual Carbon County Airport Veterans Day Hangar Hop. Presented by Airfield Manager Logan Walters on behalf of Diane Lodeserto, the event was scheduled for November 14, 2026. The World War II-themed event was designed to increase community awareness of the airport and was intended to be free to the public during its first year.
Other business included the recognition of Lori Perez, Chief Deputy Clerk, for her 13 years of service. The commission also reviewed a presentation by the Carbon Care Coalition and ratified a contract with AEGIX Global for the Active Incident Management (AIM) system, a software agreement intended for building security and integration with local first responders.
The meeting, which began at 4:30 p.m. in the Administration Building in Price, Utah, concluded at 4:56 p.m.
