The Murray City School Board held a regular meeting on December 11, 2025, at the District office to address several administrative and educational updates. The session included reports on successful financial audits, progress on school construction projects, and the approval of interlocal agreements with Murray City.
During the staff report, Matt Geddes of Squire and Company presented the FY2025 Audit Report. He stated that the firm offered an unmodified opinion on the financial statements, the Federal Single Audit, and the State Compliance Audit. Geddes noted there were no audit findings or deficiencies in internal controls.
Regarding bond projects, Scott Taggart, Director of Auxiliary Services, provided updates on local school construction. The Murray High addition is currently on schedule with structural work nearly complete on the third floor and framing moving to the second floor. Additionally, work is progressing at Riverview Junior High School, where masonry work has topped out in classroom area D.
The board also reviewed several educational recommendations. The committee unanimously approved three elementary book recommendations and one secondary book recommendation for English 11 titled The Small and the Mighty. However, the book A Long Walk to Water was not recommended for use in grades 3-5.
In food services, Gwen Haycock of Sodexo reported that a safety audit at Longview Elementary resulted in a perfect score of 100 for physical safety and a score of 97 for food safety.
Superintendent Jennifer Covington presented two interlocal agreements for board approval. These agreements, which had previously been approved by the Murray City Council, govern the mutual use of facilities between the City and the District, as well as the allocation of school resource officers in secondary schools. The board approved both agreements unanimously.
