Zack Stratton
Mayor of Vineyard City
Dear Vineyard Residents,
As the beginning of the school year approaches, I want to assure you that Vineyard City is working diligently
to ensure our children can travel safely to and from school. Working together with the Utah County Sheriff’s
Office, Alpine School District, Vineyard Elementary staff, and Orem City, we have come up with a plan to
address student safety on 400 South.
These efforts include providing adequate crossing guards and maintaining safe walking routes for students
attending Vineyard Elementary. Our staff has been working with MAG to fix the crosswalk directly across
from the school and realign the park’s parking lot exit with the roadway on the opposite side of 400 South.
This improvement created a straighter crosswalk and safer crossing for students, pedestrians, and drivers.
This project is nearing completion, and we have been assured that these improvements will be ready by the
start of the school year.
The City is working to complete the remaining section of 400 South between Holdaway Road and the
roundabout. As you may know, completion of this connection has been delayed, and we are actively working
to resolve these issues and complete the new sidewalks along 400 South as soon as possible.
The safety of our students remains one of my highest priorities. Throughout the construction period, we will
be adding a crossing guard at the new roundabout and at the crosswalk near the City Center to help
students safely travel to and from Vineyard Elementary.
Also, at the recommendation of our city staff, the stop sign on Holdaway Road will also be moved closer to
400 South. This adjustment will improve visibility for drivers, particularly those making a left turn onto 400
South.
During construction, we encourage families to use designated crossings, avoid active construction areas, and
follow all posted signs and instructions from crossing guards. For those driving students to and from school,
please slow down, don’t drive distracted, and watch for children.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these important improvements.
Sincerely,
