Millions of people tuned in on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 to watch the 196th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The event, held at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, featured messages from the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other Church leaders.
During the Sunday morning session, President Dallin H. Oaks told attendees that the way to overcome present or future concerns or struggles is to get closer to Jesus Christ. He stated that the gospel of Jesus Christ is for all.
In the Sunday afternoon session, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf spoke on Christ-centered unity, while President Dallin H. Oaks delivered concluding remarks. Other speakers included Elder David A. Bednar, who spoke on being sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise, and Elder Paul H. Sinclair, who addressed being quick to help and slow to judge.
The conference included a variety of musical and leadership updates. Thirteen musicians representing 13 different countries and territories joined The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square for the Saturday morning and Sunday sessions. Additionally, one new Area Seventy was announced and sustained during the general leadership meeting held on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Other featured speakers during the weekend included President Henry B. Eyring, who spoke about the Lord's promises of comfort, and President D. Todd Christofferson, who addressed the topic of being wise. Other sessions featured messages from Elder Dale G. Renlund, Sister Tamara W. Runia, Elder Gérald Caussé, Elder Vaiangina Sikahema, Elder Kevin J. Hathaway, Elder Ulisses Soares, Bishop Sean Douglas, and several other leaders.
The October 2026 sessions followed the April 2026 general conference, which was held on Easter weekend. During that April meeting, the Church sustained President Dallin H. Oaks, the First Presidency including President Henry B. Eyring and President D. Todd Christofferson, and the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
